2010 in a Nutshell

After working at Web Africa for eight months as their technical copywriter I've decided to pursue a more creative path. I'll be uploading a sample of the radio spot I did for them as well as a sample from the full IVR I did at DDM Studios for their on hold customers (once again with the talented Bronya Hirschman providing her voice).

In the last month I've done freelance work for EVO Media's Young Entrepreneurs Program (YEP, which will be an ongoing project, and some editing jobs for Code Marketing. Right now I'm looking for contract work and freelance jobs... and I'm excited to see what 2011 holds in store for me!

Web Africa - Marketing Brief Template 2010

I joined a team of young marketers at local ISP Web Africa for the better part of 2010.

One thing that was missing from the team was a simple, straight forward brief template, so the designer and I got together and came up with what proved to be a valuable addition to the work process.

WAGE - Medal of Honor Campaign 2010

EA Games presented WAGE (Web Africa Gaming Experience) with a number of limited product codes for the BETA version of their new game Medal of Honor 2010.

We decided to use the product codes to help promote WAGE at the upcoming OC (Organised Chaos) gaming convention.

The campaign met with great success and also featured an introduction blog, a follow up blog, a Facebook promotion, and active members of the WAGE group promoting the game and gaming service.

Westin Grand - Vega Competition 2009

The Westin Grand Hotel in Cape Town approached Vega students to participate in a competition by working on selected briefs. Our team was chosen to create a new internal branding campaign for the hotel in order to get people staying there to make better use of the rooms, restaurants and spa facilities.

Our team came first place, with each member winning a night for two in the deluxe suite, with full spa access and a breakfast buffet.

Freelance Writing

I'm currently offering my skills as a freelance writer in the creative and copy spheres.

Apart from doing projects for radio, I'm a contributing writer to the online 'zine Mahala, and was a contributing writer to the now defunct Blunt Magazine.

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Brand Communications from Vega where I focused on copy writing, creative writing and radio script writing.

Radio Advertisements

The following radio advertisements were created during my internship at Primedia, working for 547 Cape Talk and KFM, two of the biggest radio stations in the Cape.

I was given free reign over the briefs, and wrote the scripts, chose and directed the voice artists, and assisted in choosing music and edits for the final productions. I was lucky to work with and direct British actor Vincent Laurentis, and the voice of eTV, Bronya Hirschman.

The spots are all thirty seconds long, and are quick to download.
